According to sources, many Myanmar nationals working in Japan protested on September 13 against the United Nations over Rakhine State affairs.
许多在日的缅劳于当地实践9月13日在联合国办前就若开事务抗议联合国。
They protested in front of the UN office located in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo Prefecture while holding signboards and placard that stated “We Stand With Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Rhingya are not Ethnic from Myanmar” amongst others that have been written in Japanese, Burmese and English.
Thant Myo Htway, one of the protestors, 抗议者说said “We strongly condemn the actions of ARSA Bengali extremist terrorists that damages our nation’s sovereignty我们强烈谴责ARSA拌咖喱孟加拉的恐怖主义对伤害缅甸主权的行为. 缅甸就没有罗兴亚族。在日劳务都同意昂山素季政府的维持和平政策。我们要求联合国停止种族灭绝、种族清洗的撒谎。There is no Rohingya amongst Myanmar’s ethnicities. Every Myanmar citizens of all ethnicities working here in Japan agree with what the government led by Aung San Suu Kyi is doing in Rakhine in order to keep the peace. We want the lies and accusations of ethnic cleansing and genocide to stop so we’re protesting together in front of the UN office here in Shibuya, Tokyo. There are around 400 of us. The Japanese police force had provided security detail for us.”
On top of the protest, a letter was also sent to Japan’s UN office as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On September 8, over 300 Muslims also protested in Tokyo, Japan in front of Myanmar embassy over Rohingya affairs of which Myanmar nationals there also staged a counter-protest against it. 300多穆斯林也在9月8日在缅甸住日使馆前抗议。
Myanmar’s Vice-President Henry Van Thio will be attending the UN Security Council meeting today (September 13) instead of State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.
