大部分人质是住在缅军基地周围的傈僳族人。在中国逃难的勐古居民说,100多平民被抓进了缅军设在byuha山的基地,其中包括一对新婚夫妇和婚礼后跳传统傈僳族舞蹈的人们。那对新人的中国籍亲戚经数小时审讯后被释放,其他约70名傈僳族、克钦族、汉族、掸族人被扣留在缅军基地内。
Yang PongLung是上周被缅军释放的汉族人,他说缅军将基地内的人质用作人盾保护自己免遭民族联军打击。他说,缅军要求人质站在掩体附近,围绕基地修建围墙,还要为缅军做饭。人质经常因反应慢和听不懂缅语而被缅军用枪托揍。
Yang PongLung说缅军要求所有人质时刻高举双手,防止他们夺取武器:“有些男性人质被强迫长时间双手抱头跪、蹲在地。”
上周一名被释放的女性对克钦之地新闻说,缅军放她是因为她抱着一个婴儿带着一个幼儿,孩子们在缅军基地里哭个不停。她说,她的丈夫和两个儿子还被关在缅军基地里。

About 70Mungkoe residents who have been arrested and taken inside theBurmese army’s byuha (tactical command post) since fighting brokeout at the beginning of the fourth week of November betweennorthern-allied ethnic troops and Burmese army in northern ShanState are still being held hostages inside Burmese army base inMungkoe byuha hill.
Mosthostages are Lisu who live around Burmese army base. Mungkoeresidents who have fled to Chinese side of the border said over 100civilians including a newly-wed couple and those dancingtraditional Lisu dance after the wedding were taken into Burmesearmy’s base at Byuha hill. Chinese citizens who are relatives ofthe couple were released after hours of interrogation. About 70civilians that include Kachin, Chinese and Shan ethnicnationalities are still remained inside Burmese armybase.
Yang PongLung, a chinese man who was released last week said Burmese armytroops used those hostages inside the compound as human shields toprotect them from ethnic-allied troops. He said hostages are askedto stand near bunkers, build fences around the base and cook forthe soldiers. They are often beaten with rifle butts for slowresponses and miscommunication, said Yang Pong Lung.
Yang PongLung said Burmese soldiers asked all the men hostages to raisetheir hands up high all the time in order to prevent from weaponsbeing snatched. “Some male hostages are forced to kneel and squatstill for long time with their fingers interlaced behind theirhead,” he said.
A womanwho was freed last week told KLN that Burmese soldiers freed her asher baby and a toddler kept crying inside the army base. She saidher husband and two of her sons are still being held inside theBurmese army base.
